Betaine hydrochloride to aid in the production of hydrochloric acid in cases of suspected inadequate secretion of gastric acid.
Proteins such as cheese, beans, steaks and other meats make digestion difficult. The stomach produceshydrochloric acid (HCL) to assist in the digestion of these proteins, but when we have hectic pace with advancing age or when we eat late at night, the stomach does not have enough time to prepare acids that will dissolve the food, resulting in upset .
Very little gastric acid can cause discomfort and poor absorption of proteins. The Betaine increases the amount of stomach fluids, necessary to digest protein, releasing minerals from food and stimulate the pancreas to secrete its digestive enzymes of. Adequate levels of hydrochloric acid necessary for the absorption of calcium, magnesium and zinc. The hydrochloric acid also ensures the release of "intrinsic factor"-vital for the absorption of vitamin B12. TheBetaine HCL provides a natural source of betaine to be taken with food if necessary, and improves digestion. The levels of stomach fluids decrease with age, while depleted using antacid drugs. In the stomach hydrochloric acid acts to produce pepsin, an enzyme which is absolutely essential for breaking the protein into smaller, more absorbable portions. Over the years the endogenous production of hydrochloric acid decreases dramatically and this has as a corollary and a large decrease in the production of pepsin. Without the normal pepsin, digestive problems and general disturbance of the digestive process is inevitable.
