The Ginkgo Biloba (Gkinko the bilobed), is a potent antioxidant and has beneficial effects on the circulatory and central nervous system. Helping to maintain a good micro-circulation in the capillaries of the brain, supports concentration and short term memory reserves, especially in the elderly. It also has a beneficial effect on peripheral circulation in the extremities, setting the tone and elasticity of arteries, veins and capillaries.
The Gkinko has also proved very useful in maintaining the health of the heart and blood flow to the hands and feet. The name Ginkgo is derived from the Chinese word meaning YIN silver and HING word which means apricot, referring to the colors (Whetstone 1993). Referred to as a "living fossil" because it is the only surviving member of the family Ginkgoales. The pharmaceutical activity of Gkinko has a long history. The leaves and fruits used in traditional medicine. The first report on the therapeutic effect of the leaves must have been during the dynasty of the Han (206BC-220AD). Extract Mega Potency Ginkgo, is equivalent to 6000mg of sheets Gkinko, because it provides a guaranteed standardized extract which is concentrated 50 times. This means that each tablet of 120mg equivalent to 6000mg of the community cards Gkinko, with 24% Gkinko-flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones.
